Spanish culture is one of the most prevalent cultures in the world.
Spain is known for its cultural
diversity. This culture has its origin in the Iberian, Celtiberian, Latin,
Visigothic, Roman Catholic, and Islamic cultures. Spain has the second
highest number of UNESCO world heritage sites in the world after Italy.
Spanish culture is very rich and vibrant culture it is very flexible culture.
Moreover Spanish language is highly influenced by Latin and also has borrowed
some words and accent from Arabic.
Religion, Language and Lifestyle
In Spain about 76% self-identify as Catholics, 5% other faith, and about
19% identify with no religion. So the Roman Catholicism is the largest
religion in the country
Spanish is the most prominent Spanish languages in the Spain which nearly
everyone can speak in Spain either 1st or 2nd language and its also the
official language of Spain. Basque, Catalan, Galician and Aranese all
these languages are co-official in their regions, and are widespread enough
to have daily newspapers and significant book publishing and media presence
in these regional languages.
Spanish people live their life in both ways as a modern lifestyle like
urban people and like rural life also. Spain is an industrial and developed
country so because of this most of people in Spain live in urban areas
so they have a strong impact of modern lifestyle but still farmers and
agriculturalists live in the rural villages or small towns.
Spanish architecture, Painting and Sculpture
Modern day Spanish architecture is refers architecture carried out in
any area. Due to its historical and geographical diversity, Spanish architecture
has drawn from a host of influences. The engineering efforts to achieve
a new language and bring about structural improvements using iron and
glass as the main building materials, and the academic focus, firstly
on revivals and eclecticism, and later on regionalism. Spain is currently
experiencing a revolution in contemporary architecture and Spanish architects
including Rafael Moneo, Santiago Calatrava, Ricardo Bofill as well as
many others have gained worldwide success. By UNESCO most of the architectural
sites and even portion of the cities has been distinguished as World heritage
sites because of its artistic relevance.
Spain is also well known for its artist Spanish cities are well known
example of good art. Spain's best known artist since the 1900s has been
Pablo Picasso, who is known for abstract sculptures, drawings, graphics,
and ceramics in addition to his paintings. Due to historic, geographic
and generational diversity, Spanish art has known a great number of influences.
Picasso's Blue Period, which consisted of somber, blue-tinted paintings,
was influenced by a trip through Spain. Alonso Berruguete is called the
"Prince of Spanish sculpture" because of the grandeur, originality, and
expressiveness achieved in his works.
Spanish Literature and Education
Spanish literature" refers to literature written in the Spanish language,
including literature composed by Spanish, other European, and Latin American
writers. It may include Spanish poetry, prose, and novels. Due to historic,
geographic and generational diversity, Spanish literature has known a
great number of influences and it is very diverse. Some major movements
can be identified within it.
State Education in Spain is free and compulsory from 6 to 16 years of
age. The current education system is called LOGSE. Pre- school stage education
is for 3 to 5 years old children this is free for all children and also
non-compulsory. Primary and secondary school education which is for the
6 to 16 years old Spanish student its compulsory and free for all.
University courses are structured in cycles, and have the credit as a
measure for the lessons.The universities regulate access to their own
degrees and they fix the academic fees. They can also offer unofficial
postgraduate degrees.Spain has internationally recognized universities,
the most notable being the University of Barcelona, the Complutense University,
the University of Navarra, the Technical University of Madrid, the Autonomous
University of Barcelona, the Pompeu Fabra University, and the Carlos III
University.
